Sealing Devices Inc. buys Lancaster manufacturing building for $1.75 million

Sep 05, 2023

Sealing Devices Inc. is expanding — again — with the purchase of a manufacturing facility and office near the company's other facilities in Lancaster.

Altema Enterprises LLC, a Sealing Devices affiliate, purchased 35 Ward Road from Giardino Holdings for $1.75 million, according to documents filed Thursday with the Erie County Clerk's office.

The 25,000-square-foot building previously was the home of Alco plastics, a manufacturer of plastic bags owned by Mark and Shari Giardino.

The building will be the fifth in Sealing Device's complex, clustered around the intersection of Ward Road and Walden Avenue.

The seals and gaskets manufacturer will move some of its manufacturing processes into the new building over the next few months, according to marketing manager Jennifer Georger.

"We just need more space, because we're kind of busting at the seams," Georger said.

The business has grown about 20% over the last year, she said.

The new building provides space for its current needs and a bit of room to grow. It brings Sealing Devices' total footprint to 225,000 square feet.

"We jumped on the opportunity when it became available," Georger said.
